Jean Mildred Simon (née Henderson): 11 February 1917 – 14 January 2003 Jean was a dear gentle mother to Tony, Susan, Paul, and Ivan (pre-deceased); loving wife of Hartley (pre-deceased), and grandmother to Max and Marielle Matheny, and Jahdae and Jahnia Simon. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Bob and Donald Henderson. A warrior who deserves to go out on her shield, Jean was a 38-year survivor of a serious cancer operation, and maintained an ability to smile and laugh through a long difficult fight against Alzheimers. An adventurer and traveller, whether earning a judo belt, biking from Saskatoon to Vancouver, driving to Mexico, or flying to Europe or the Caribbean, she was quietly capable of enjoying life’s challenges. She loved her church and was the flower arranger for 38 years. Her brother’s family was a joy to her, and she enjoyed the company of her sister-in-law throughout her long life. Special thanks to all the folks at Parkridge Center who made her last months bearable, and especially to Teresa at Time Out for being able to make her smile until her last few days. Jean leaves behind many friends in Jamaica, Mexico and the USA, as well as in Canada. A celebration of her life was held on Monday, 20 January 2003 at All Saints Anglican Church. "Thanks Mom for everything. We cherish our memories of you."
